While I would prefer side-by-side translation between original and
translated texts, Google's new layout works well enough for me because
I often translate articles of, say, six to twelve paragraphs from a
variety of sources.
I then copy and paste these articles into my working documents, for
which I use tables in Microsoft Word for side-by-side presentations,
and then I re-edit the translations.
I have noticed no change of quality in the translations since the
inauguration of your new layout. I assume that the translation
algorithms feeding into this new user interface remain unchanged.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to query users before they start to
enter texts whether they prefer side-by-side or sequential
presentation of original and translated texts. Another possibility
would be to make this query after the texts have been translated.
Once again, I want to thank Google for giving me for nothing a very
valuable tool that helps me produce more and better posts for my blog,
"Interlingua multilingue"!
