Comment by Yegor.Jbanov: @xavier.mehaut According to samples above, one of the goals is to support a subset of the native HTML syntax, such as <div> and <span>. XML looks like a reasonable compromise to achieve this. In JavaFX it would not be as natural. My 2 cents.
