Since I am PRE-newbie, I continue to make mistakes and therefore tried to update/upgrade (not sure of the difference) to Ubuntu 8.04 (I think). I am now locked into a loop testng... The test shows that it is working on VIA C3 Samuel2 processor which from my digging around on the internet (including some helpful VIA articles for me on Wikipedia).but VIA 7M is what is in the computer.
What I found may be part of the problem with getting caught in the loop. There are real differences between the C3 Samuel 2 being tested and the C7M supplied with the Cloudbook. The information is way above my knowledge, so I am not certain. Maybe some of you more knowledgable folks might like to look at this if you have time. There are interesting processor comparison's on Wikipedia VIA info section. That notwithstanding, can anyone suggest how I can either get back to ground zero (meaning the Cloudbook as received) or can someone guide me through the Ubuntu and Grub issues I am lost in, so that I can get the most current "stuff" on ths little computer. I have been reading a lot of sites about linux and am taking baby steps. I saturate in about an hour and have to come back to it after a break. I really like and am enjoying what I am learning. Although it would be easier to just empty the disk and go back to the Windows that I used before I retired, I really would like to come to understand more about linux and the construction of computers. I am really ignorant, but not stupid and I would like to learn. I am hesitant to bother this group as you all seem to be quantum leaps ahead of me, but I really do want to learn. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gOS Linux" group.
