This is a well known problem and has nothing to do with the CPU in
your system, (the same problem occurs with Intel and AMD processor
too) gOS (versions before 3.0) are simply incompatible with Ubuntu
8.04! You see, all these versions are based on Ubuntu 7.10, but have
many changes that make them incompatible with the underlying system of
Ubuntu 8.04. I'm not completely familiar with -why- it happens, but
fact is that upgrading the core system to Ubuntu 8.04 will remove the
Linux kernel that is in these gOS systems, but will NOT put the new
kernel as used in gOS 8.04 back in. The result is that "upgrading"
leaves you with a system without any kernel ! This is a fatal problem,
and as far as I know, the only way to get gOS running again is by re-
installing gOS with the Live_CD that should be included with your PC.
You can also download a new copy of gOS and burn it to a CD (with an
"image writer" utility as is included in many CD-writer programs).

gOS 3.0 will be based on Ubuntu 8.04, and Good OS assures us that
steps have been taken to make sure this problem won't repeat itself
with the next version of Ubuntu (9.x).

Best wait until the definitive version of gOS is released in a couple
of weeks or so, so you can have some benefit from this problem.
