I too am trying to install gOS on an old P2 based Compaq Armada. gOS 3 Beta uses Ubuntu 8.04, which requires a minimum of 384MB of RAM to install. I have 320, and it won't play nice at all. So i'm running gOS 2 Rocket E, which is really fast, much faster than Ubuntu 7.10 in fact. But Ubuntu 7.10 lets me run my wifi, and gOS won't and I have no clue what to do.
I'm going to try DSL and give 'er a spin, as my machine simply has to run Mozilla, and Open Office, and for those reasons, I'm probably going to stick with Ubuntu. But if I can get gOS running, I might do that instead. Try gOS 'E' and let me know how that works for you.
