The Community Versions will be available before the end of the year.
We want to make sure our current flagship product Gadgets is as
flawless as possible first.

As for upgrades I still don't recommend performing a full distro
upgrade esp since this is a LTS based release (good for 3 years) the
repos we have set up are for primarily bug fixes/patches and allowing
users to manage security updates.

gOS isn't a distro from scratch as Mahjongg had pointed out, we use
Ubuntu primarily for the reason there is such a large help community
and quick fixes to bugs that are encountered in there system. We add
our desktop layer ui and are own utilities to create a Google centric
Ubuntu version.

When new users first encounter Linux they are much more confident in
switching if they see that it has Google apps, Skype, and other
software they may already be familiar with.
