it could be your CD rom i have had problems with ubuntu on some readers and had to change readers to install it i dont know why but some just cant read it right so i suggest try it on anther machine and see if it boots if it does this coul be the case if it were a video problem it would just go dark and you could solve that by using the safe video mode but it is probably the reader itself
