No. you still do not get it, it isn't a "container file", like .ZIP
or .ARJ. in fact it has only one single purpose, and that is to be the
"mirror image" of the exact content of a CD, including all the
normally invisible parts, that are not part of the normal filing
system. It is a bit-for-bit replica of the CD.

Windows is not recognizing it, but other operating systems like Mac
OSX and Linux have software (known as "loop back device drivers") that
do enable you to open the (filing system) part of the .ISO and check
the files as if you were reading a CD. That still does not mean you
are able to boot the contents though! Booting uses the "invisible
parts", that are also contained inside of the .ISO image.
