What you claim should not be possible, gOS is based on Ubuntu 8.04,
which is a long time support version THAT DOES NOT UPGRADE TO 8.10.
Not even Ubuntu 8.04 itself will auto upgrade to 8.10, because 8.04 is
a long term stable version, and long term stable versions do not Auto
Upgrade.

an Upgrade that broke gOS happened with gOS 2.9, when Ubuntu upgraded
from 7.10 to 8.04, but that happened because Good OS was not aware
that this could occur, and would break gOS, but according to Good OS
they have since taken precautions so it would never happen again. So
gOS should not accept upgrades from Ubuntu, only from Good OS.

So far you are the only one who complained about this problem, as a
matter of fact I was at a friends house today just hours ago, and
installed gOS for him, and of course all the updates were also done,
including upgrades from Good OS (after adding the Good OS URL in
"software sources"), and it did NOT ask to be upgraded.

I don't know how it could happen, but I hope this was just a fluke, if
not Good OS has something to explain...

In any case if you are presented with an UPGRADE option, do NOT
accept, only accept UPDATES.
