hi peter at present im going with my ubuntu latest version....
                                      but to my knowledge i can sujest u how
to cope up with ur problem..
      u just go to the user and group settings.. here u can see a check box
for unlocking or something similar. u check on it , then it asks for ur root
password . just provide it then to the right of the dialoug box u will have
the options ad user and many more.... u can add many user provided passwrod
for each...u just try it out i hope u will get the solution...

                                      and by the way im sunil from india....
