If your hard-disk is not defragmented with the Windows disk
defragmentation tool (all programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk
Defragmenter), then the partition cannot be split by gOS. You need to
defragment, and check for errors (analyse) your windows partition.
Then check to see how much free space you have left at the end of the
defragmented files for gOS 3. You need something like 6GB for gOS and
its swap file (which is normally 150% of your RAM size big).

if the disk is defragmented and error free, gOS can attempt to split
off a partition, the default choice it makes for the sizes (where to
split) is just a recommendation, you can choose the split point
yourself (to the left of the split is the size your existing Windows
installation will get, to the right is what gOS will get). If you move
the split point so that either Windows or gOS does not get enough
space gOS will complain, and refuse the partition split..
