I just installed gOS3 & I have to say, It seemed to work better as a
live CD.
Has anybody else found the dock to mostly contain links to apps that
aren't installed? I was at least expecting the same as what appeared
using the live CD. I set it up manually - a real pain.
Several other problems...I think I give up. i'm going to bed, not
returning here &I'm installing Sidux, Ubuntu itself, or something else
on my laptop. I feel like I'm just running Ubuntu under another name
& that I've wasted a lot of time.No, I'm not going into detail &
asking for help. I've used Linux long enough to know when to ask &
when something isn't worth it. I kept 2.9 for a while even though it
broke fairly often - the least reliable Linux OS I've ever used. My
final impression of gOS is What's the point? OK. It may be convenient
to have some things set up already...It may just not meet my needs,
but I find it kinda pointless. There's all this talk of 'design'
etc... I don't see any. It's not revolutionary or creative. Widgets,
whether Google, Windows, Yahoo or KDE4 Plasmoids are nice, but are
ubiquitous. Google docs, etc are available to anybody. What's the OS
got to do w/ it? I read a lot of hype from gOS about this OS. The
lukewarm reviews are pretty spot on. The theme is wonderful, but
that's about it.gOS has been on several failed products. What's the
new thing? Cloud? Yep..seen that kinda thing already. Specs & a
cool haircut. No Steve Jobs here.
Good luck to the gOS team. Please prove me wrong in your future
releases.
Ciao.
