what Linux is about Open Source - so anyone can take it and modify to suit.

I found that it all worked well and once I found out how to set myself up as
admin and manage the dock it has everything I need in a basic desktop
conveniently arranged. Synaptic is still there for use anyway.  I couldn't
get Compiz  or the facebook gadget to work admittedly but that's just eye
candy anyhow.

All in all I'm satisfied so far. Simplicity and functionality are there even
if the gadgets are mostly superfluos, that would be the same for any OS.
