Forgive me my ignorance, but generally Intel
drivers for most cards are already built-in to
Ubuntu and therefore I'd assume are in gOS too.

I'm assuming that you weren't able to connect to a
router or find your wireless card.

Do you mind telling me what wireless chip you have
and what your experience was? I have a HP Pavilion
dv1421ap (from memory :)) with an intel card which
'just works' and am happy to try to help out if
you'd like.
