It's in the FAQ clear as day and I quote:

Jennifer, just to make sure... we're both looking at
https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/04/05/faq-on-ceo-resignation/ here?
Here's what I see it saying right now:
A: No. In fact, Board members tried to get Brendan to stay at
Mozilla in another role. Brendan decided that it was better
for himself and for Mozilla to sever all ties, at least for now.
It has no mention of "volunteer contributor" in there. It wasn't there
yesterday either, which is why I asked you where you were getting the
information.
Is it possible the FAQ was edited sometime after you read it and copied
that bit and yesterday? Are you reading a different FAQ? Are we just
getting served different content? I'm willing to entertain all
hypotheses here until we figure out why you and I are just seeing
different text.
Regardless of your POV on this debacle, the messaging from Mozilla has been inconsistent
and not terribly satisfying to your "diverse" audience.
Oh, it hasn't been terribly satisfying to _me_!
