Thanks for your thoughtful response, John. https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/04/05/faq-on-ceo-resignation/ is one public statement from Mozilla about this issue. While it doesn't explicitly say "we'd love to have you back, Brendan", it does make it quite clear that it was his decision to resign, and that the board tried to get him to stay on in a C-level position. I know lots of Mozillians who would love to have him back, and I'm sure many of them have told him this.
