You guessed right. We actually have 3 such manual Diesel 4WDs in our household. It allows me to fix most problems myself if stuck on a remote road, and to get it push started when I end up with flat batteries / defect alternator During the yearly flood I have to cross a bride with some 40-50 cm of fast running water with mud covering the road, and some home visits to remote farms require driving steep gradients on mud tracks It also allows me to pull tree trunks from my property, accommodate my 4 kids plus friends, pull heavy trailers with firewood for our winter etc. David sees cars from his inner urban experience perspective only. His cars would be useless in my environment, even if they might suit a majority of Australians very well. Same with some software.
