Which is why the government works so hard at keeping the GP bulk-billing
rate up, so that too many of those patients aren't demanding higher
rebates from their 'insurer' and they [the government] totally lose
control of the downward cost-pressure on medical fees that bulk-billing
exerts.
The indemnity and bulk-bill remuneration crisis of 2003 led to an extra
$5.00 for GPs who bulk-bill their pensioners and under 16s, increases in
the Medicare rebate rates, plus urgent action re the undisclosed
liabilities of practitioners.
Also the proposal of 'Fairer Medicare' to make HIC Online mandatory for
bulk-billing was dropped.
And a new Health Minister, of course
Yep, as a group you can frighten the shit out of them if they annoy you
