Greg

Even when employees gets paid electronically, they like to get a piece of
paper that shows them their pay and deductions. By giving the patient a
request form it acts as a reminder to the patient that they have to do
something. I have some patients who asks for a hard copy of path results.
The fact that I showed them on PC screen & told them it's normal, is not
good enough. If I send an electronic referral to a specialist, tell the
patient you are seeing Dr Jo Bloggs on 13/04/2006 at 13h.00 and then patient
leaves, and forgets to go to specialist, the lawyers will have a great time
when patient says "but the Doctor never gave me a referral letter. If he
had I would've remembered to go". Patients will take my referral for X-rays
and stick it on the fridge and go when they like.

Cedric
