Although not open sourced, VMWare are giving away their Linux and
Windows servers at no monetary cost.
I suppose they are trying to grab as much market share as possible to
combat the increasing popularity of better technology like Xen.
Virtualisation allows you to abstract the operating system from the
physical hardware, offering immortality for your servers.
