Hunter Urban is setting up a VPN to connect to a number of their
hospitals, most of their GPs, some specialists, and their division-run
after hours clinics. They are also part of one of NSW Health's pilot,
formerly part of HealthConnect, Health E-clinic, as I understand.
Do you know what type of VPN? IPSEC? SSL? or, dare I say it, PTPP?
What security issues have been considered? (viz. viruses spreading inside the
VPN, 'weakest-link' issues. etc)
And what application is being run over it (which is essentially David's
original question, how does the data get into MD)?
The guy to talk to for that sort of detail is Chris Scott at Hunter Urban.
They are using managed Cisco 800 series VPN routers, I know, but I'm
sure there is much more to it. Chris used to run comms for an area
health service and is Cisco accredited.
