In our practice, the practice manager checks that another GP agrees to
check the inbox of the away GP. Generally this is not onerous and after
the first few days there is very minimal traffic apart from copies of
tests ordered by specialists that need no followup.
I think the human systems approach is probably better than adding
complexity to the computer stuff.
