I have used Norton's for 10 years. It has always kept my PC safe. Has at times saved me hours of heart ache. I know a lot of so called experts hate Nortons. HCN hates Nortons as you mis disable it to install or upgrade MDS &/or Practsoft, yet other Medical softwatre Vendors find Nortons doesn't
interfere with there product.

So I will continue using Nortons.

10 years ago Norton's system tools were quite essential - they added for example a decent defragmenter (which Windows still doesn't have out of the box). Then Symantec came along and turned it into bloatware (sadly they've done the same thing to Ghost lately). I'd rate the current Norton's as close to number 1 of the most horrid pieces of software of all time.

Although I don't need AV for 90% of my computers, the one I use for the rest uses hardly any resources (Norton's AV uses around 20% when working well, which it generally doesn't do for long, Internet Security uses even more), and stays *completely* out of my way until it finds an infected file.

I can't count the number of times I have been called out to clean a virus that a current Norton's missed. It's not alone - McAfee is almost as bad.

If you've used Norton's for ten years you don't have anything to compare it with. Next time your renewal is due, humour me and download a NOD32 evaluation from www.nod32.com.au You'll quickly discover what's wrong with Norton's and thank me retrospectively.

Peter.
