Even if we did slog on, the result becomes too messy to be maintainable, and the learning curve of the internal architecture is too steep for new programmers to ascend easily. Point is, I feel it would be faster to re-implement what we want (which is not quite what gnumed is or becoming) in Rails, and the result more useful.
