I like lists because they are threadable and searchable and I have a
permanent copy that cannot be deleted by an administrator. I also like
the fact that the data is coming at me from a variety of feeds and I
don't have to go chasing after it.

I have always found working with data locally is faster and hence more
efficient. The digerati run their own imap servers that facilitate
access, filtering, searching and archiving. Better software and AJAX/J
are making fora better, however, and it will perhaps be better again on
Monday when ADSL2+ hits town. My mate, Terry, says to go 4m/4m so we can
do videoconferencing (ugly bastard that he is).
