Gary, lots of people come and go, and just because they leave this list
doesn't have any relevance to the new list, except that such a person may
find the new list more tolerable as it won't have as many posts - like i
won't be on it.
I use huge numbers of filters and inbox folders to cope with all my incoming
mail which subdivides it, all the 'normal operations' mail from the servers
is ignored and the 'abnormal operations' mail can be seen quickly.
I could do the same for this list - I could put anything written by Tom Bowden
and Andrew Magennis in a 'only when very bored pile' and put things from Ken
Harvey in a 'when politically motivated pile'.
I was thrown off the hcn forum many years ago. I had been persisting in
discussing the fact that 3 times my allergies database had vanished from
MDW2. When we converted our data to Xprogram, all those allergies were found
again, both linked to the original patients, some of whom were now allergic
to the same thing 4 times, and all linked to the patient last in the
alphabetical list, who was allergic to penicillin innumerable times.
But the owners of that time didn't want to know, nor to allow others to know,
and I am sure that everyone else put off the list was put off because they
didn't provide fawning commentary on the programmes involved.

By the way, I support Free speech, as well as Free Software, but not Free Beer
