Colleagues,

Information on Broadband for Health Incentive for 2006/07

The Broadband for Health Program will be terminating on 30 June 2007.

The program was established in July 2004 to demonstrate the speed and availability of broadband services to eligible health organisations and community pharmacies nationwide.

The original concept of the Program was to provide participants with a broadband service with no limitation as to what it would be used for. Since then, the Department of Health and Ageing has introduced the Managed Health Networks Program to demonstrate the value of broadband to eligible health organisations to streamline business practice’s and information management through managed and secure Virtual Private Networks and Wide Area Networks.

Due to the nature of high speed Internet it has been demonstrated through the Program that broadband Internet is a valuable and necessary business cost that can provide health organisations with the tools necessary to save time and money in conducting everyday duties.
