Because I am an overseas trained doctor, and there is a 10 year moratorium during which you have to re-apply for provider numbers at least once yearly. I have been working in rural and remote Australia "only" 9 full years (always RRMA >=5) , one year to go before this idiocy would expire, but now I am considering retiring early from GP instead - or retraining in Psychiatry, a speciality that is obviously badly needed.
