Not wanting to be sexist, we should all aspire to be a "scholar and a
gentleman".
Some on this list might qualify for the former but fail in the latter.
Humility and being a little circumspect in opinions doesn't lesson my
opinion of a person's competence or authority - in fact the contrary.
Sometimes, the more you know, the less you know.
But irrespective of the tone, rude communication is better than no
communication !

Many on this list have no vested interest in
any particular product at all.
But there are others who do have a vested
interest in a particular product, and participate
in this forum to try to further promote their
product ... I don't have a problem with that.
After you have been here a while, you soon
know who's who, and you can anticipate what
is going to be posted by whom.
I find it sort of quirky entertainment to read
a post by someone with a vested interest, in
the anticipation of the "put down" of those with
views unhelpful to their product.
But overall this list is very polite, and I don't expect
that it can be made more polite. The usual response
to anyoneover-stepping the mark is a bit of peer
self-regulatory feedback, and this seems the best
way for things to continue.
