I haven't done formal testing but have decided on Xen, which wins on several counts:

Networking can be setup with much less hassle.
The console.
The Xen server distribution. It's fast and locked down, and very quick to install and setup in a pinch.
Bigger, more active community.

For anyone wanting to try virtualisation, I'd reluctantly recommend an Intel host. If you do use AMD64 you'll need to turn off ACPI and be happy with 32 bit guests.
