You might find the Enigmail Quick Start Guide to be useful. It's
currently undergoing a lot of revisions: the latest version that's been
put up for public review is at

It is not complete, and certain bits are being viciously revised.
(E.g., we're migrating our GnuPG recommendation for Windows systems away
from GnuPG 1.4.x and towards 2.x, plus there's some internal debate
within Enigmail over how GPGTools should be covered, etc. Right now
GPGTools only supports Thunderbird 3 and 5, which is a problem since the
latest is version 7 -- so we're debating telling people to get MacGPG2
from GPGTools and get Enigmail separately.)
