Summary: Performance issue when individually syncing podcasts
to device
Product: gPodder
Version: 0.14.1
Platform: PC
URL: http://feeds.wsjonline.com/wsj/podcast_wall_street_jou
rnal_tech_news_briefing
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: low
Component: Application
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
The feed in the URL puts out two podcasts a day - morning and evening.
gpodder: I have the sync option to delete on transfer, as well as having my mp3
player's directory configured.
As my mp3 player orders it's default playlist by the order in which I sync
mp3's, when I sync podcasts from this feed, I do it in reverse order one-by-one
from the main application by right clicking on the podcast and selecting
transfer.
When I load up my mp3 player, I rotate through about 15 feeds in a best attempt
to get all the podcasts sync'd in sequential date order.
I noticed during my last session 2 days ago that when syncing podcasts from
this feed in the URL one by one, the application seemed to get slower and
slower. In fact, in at least two instances, the application window went black,
and after a few seconds, recovered. Syncing one of these small podcasts (about
5mb in size) would take 15-20 seconds, perhaps longer.
I did not notice this on other feeds. Just with this one, and just during my
individual sync operations.
I'd like to log this bug as a placeholder. I should do another sync to my mp3
player in a few days, and I'll capture the verbose output and note any
performance issues while syncing, as well as doing a 'git pull'
