Having been not a happy, byt a very happy user of Gpodder for quite some time.
During that time I have found that the below four features would improve the
usability of the program:
1. Playlist
Some of the episodes I podcatch are only 5 minutes long. This - and other
instances - have led me to miss a playlist. The list should make it possible to
select a number of instances and have them played in a sequence. A pause of
some 10 seconds (usermanaged via configuration) between the instances might be
desirable.
2.Separate folder
I miss (unless I have made an oversight) the possibility to place the
episode-files in a user-named folder somewhere outside the gpodder-folder -
anywhere on the same drive / the local LAN.
3. Podcastgroups
My podcatches are a mixed bunch. In order to improve my overview I miss the
possibility to assemble them into a few groups. A "group-level" introduced
above the present Podcast-level. The number and names of the groups should be
maintainable by users. Each podcast sould be transferable to a group / between
groups by drag-and-drop. New podcasts should be placed outside the groups (or
in a "New"-group that cannot be deleted.
4. Multilanguage
It does not matter for me, but I do believe that the program might be much more
attractive to many users if they could operate it in their own language. My
suggestion is, that you provide the functionality and (some of) your users
provide the translations.
Also:
Danmarks Radio (the Danish equivalent of BBC) will during the coming time
rebuild their web-page on podcasts. They normally recommend a couple of
podcatchers on this page. I have recommended to them to include Gpodder in
their future recommendations.
