'Deleting Episodes Only Deletes Downloaded Files' Not True, It Permanently
Deletes The Episode From The Database.
Apparently this change was introduced by Feature Request made in Bug 454, but
since then the dialog box hasn't been updated to reflect this change.
Added to that, the reason for this feature is based is flawed: "After a
particular episode has been downloaded and listened to, there is
no real benefit for having that episode listed once it is no longer available,
and cannot be downloaded again. (Trying to download a podcast that is no longer
available gives a 'HTTP 404' error.)"
That's only true for some podcasts, others make episodes still available for
download after the episode is no longer listed in the feed, so there's a real
benefit in keeping the episodes in the database for re-listening to past
episodes that has been deleted due to disk space limitations.
Further there's no point in permanently deleting episodes from the database as
they can easily be hidden by selecting 'hide deleted episodes' view, while it's
not possible to recover an episode deleted from the database.
