Hi Vero,
What is the pathway to contribute to tutorials in the GRASS wiki/website?Even
though I am hardly at the level of contributing code yet, as a user I would be
happy to contribute on updating the tutorials on rgrass.

Dear Roger,

This is great news!!! Thanks for your great work and commitment!! Much
appreciated!
I use this thread also to invite folks using rgrass(7) to help us create/update
tutorials in the grass wiki [1] and create vignettes for the package website
[2] so that the new functions get more visibility and usage.

With this in mind, I'd like to use the content of this email to create a
twitter thread from GRASS account, would you agree Roger?

Thanks again!
Best,Vero

Version 0.2-8 of rgrass7 (R-GRASS GIS interface) has been published on
CRAN. This version also works with GRASS 8, despite the package name, but
also represents a bridge to the future rgrass package, no longer using
rgdal but now terra for file transfer.

This release will permit those using functions readRAST(), writeRAST(),
readVECT() and writeVECT() to transition to the new read_RAST(),
write_RAST(), read_VECT() and write_VECT(), which use SpatRaster and
SpatVector objects defined in the terra package, and which may be coerced
to stars, raster and sp objects for rasters, and sf and sp objects for
vector. Details of the development may be followed through
https://github.com/rsbivand/rgrass/issues/42, with lots of helpful input
from contributors. Since rgdal will retire during 2023, these steps were
necessary, as well as opening up the R-GRASS interface to other R packages
and workflows.

Please report any problems in this thread, and/or raise issues on
https://github.com/rsbivand/rgrass/issues.

Best wishes,

Roger
