Hello Christoph,
how was the OLPC booth at CeBIT? Sorry I couldn't join.
On March the 6th and 7th there were OLPC talks with Nicholas
Negroponte in Rome and Florence. The town of Florence announced
they will provide 5K laptops to the local primary schools and
another 5K to children in a few African locations. An OLPC Italia
association is forming right now to handle the logistics:

You can contact Francesco, Torello and Giulia (reading us in Cc)
for possible synergies.
Next Sunday, I'll be moving to Brussels to join a new OLPC team
connected with the United Nations Development Programme. We'll
be promoting the XO and the OLPC educational model as part of the
UNDP Millenium Development Goals:

It would make sense to coordinate with the European OLPC grassroots
groups on many different levels. It's still not clear what specific
services we may need from you or provide to you, but I guess there
will be plenty of opportunities for interaction.
We'll provide further details as we go. Please, forward this
initial proposal to the grassroots list, to which I'm not
subscribed (I already read 20+ lists, I can't take any more!).
