Looks like it never even made it out of the GUI to run v.buffer. Was there a v.buffer crashlog? It may be a TclTk problem, not v.buffer.

If it happens again in the GUI (it may be random?), try immediately again in the Terminal.

I attached the crash report from today - I tried the same command twice, so there are two reports a mere minutes apart.

This is the exact command I attempted:
v.buffer [EMAIL PROTECTED] output=buffer type=point,line,area layer=1 buffer=2000 scale=1.0 tolerance=0.01

I just attempted it again, and it did NOT crash...

Seriously, I tried it twice earlier, crashed both times.

Thanks for the suggestion....I need to remember to refer to spearfish for quality control.
