Looks like it never even made it out of the GUI to run v.buffer. Was
there a v.buffer crashlog? It may be a TclTk problem, not v.buffer.
If it happens again in the GUI (it may be random?), try immediately
again in the Terminal.

I just attempted it again, and it did NOT crash...
Seriously, I tried it twice earlier, crashed both times.
Thanks for the suggestion....I need to remember to refer to
spearfish for quality control.
