We don't need bombs going off in our backyard to remind us of national interest. But ignoring bombs (because there are inequities in the society) is definitely against national interest.
Irrespective of one's ideological predilections, if the nation doesn't stand, nobody does either. While the discussion about equities and inequities are important in their own right, bringing those into an analysis of national security imperatives will not do good to either. Best regards, Murali.
