Greetings from Chalakudiriver Protection Forum

As already informed to you all, a two day Eco-Legal Camp
is being organised by Indian Association of Lawyers commenced
at Athirappilly today morning (29.09.07)
Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan inaugurated the camp.
Additional Advocate General Venganoor Chandrasekharan Nair
presided over the function. Other speakers were
Agricultural University VC Sree K.R.Viswambharan , Dr.A.Latha,
IAL National General Secretary Adv.T.M.Mohammed Yusef, Adv.P.K.Chithrabhanu,
and Adv.A.Jayasankar.

IAL National General Secretary Adv.T.M.Mohammed Yusef declared that
the Association is alive to the ecological problems arising out
of the Athirappilly Hydroelectric Project. He wanted the Government
to give up the project which will badly affect the flora, fauna and
agriculture of the region. The project will create scarcity of drinking
water.
The Association has decided to take legal steps against the project
and for this purpose a panel of advocates will set up which will
include Senior Advocate of Supreme court.

regards

murari for Chalakudiriver Protection Forum
