Hi Sanil and others, I haven't given up yet. I would be happy to join Geedha's list but I still hope greenyouth could do away with moderation -- the kind that does not involve any mutual understanding between the moderator and the moderated.
I believe such moderation only helps in adding to the bitterness (of the moderated), and destructive in general. The bitterness will surely show in other spaces as well, as we have already seen happening here. Moderating the first mail to avoid spam, having a talk with an author about her/his style or requesting one to rephrase or reorganize.. I find all that reasonable. But if moderation leads to confrontation, the only good thing that has come out of it is that many people who were silent otherwise, especially women, have spoken out. Most of them against the moderation. With hope that the confrontation ends soon, -sudeep On 10/1/07, sanil v <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > If there is one person on this list who is totally > confused about the distinction between moderation and > censorship it is the moderator.
