Shantam, paapam! However this Jiju P Alex is, he is committing blasphemy. He
is daming the advice of Great Leaders. Please!

(1) the author's implicit demand, that social activists should be
necessarily landless and preferably near-starvation was, alas, long rejected
by the CPM. I quote their late God, EMS:As far as comrades from the
landowning and capitalist classes are concerned, it may be better that they
work to create a group within their class who will work for the country's
economic planning and to improve the people's standards of living, and to
devote their wealth and labour in ways that enhance national pride, rather
than sell their assets and hand over the sum received to the party."
(quoted from 'Acchadakkattode Pravarttikkuka' (Act with Discipline), in P.
Govinda Pillai (ed.), *EMS Sampoorna Kritikal* [Collected Works of EMS]
vol.5, 1944-45, Thiruvananthapuram: Chinta Publishers, pp. 234-54). Likewise
all the activists of the Chengara land struggle who are much poorer
landlords compared to what EMS was, will devote themselves to enhancing the
economic development activities of the poor. Bretheren! Be wary of false
prophets like Jiju P Alex who seek to mislead you away from the Word of God!

(2) The author's professorial status may have exempted him from gaining
education about precise definitions of terms like 'NGOs', upon which the RAW
certainly keeps a close watch. He seems to have no clue on where and how
funding flows, especially from sources like the ford foundation. And please
note: "WB activists"are bad but WB money is not. We need it to keep our
panchayats going. This professor lives in an insulated world where
everything is artificially kept alive by the CPM power plant. Hence he
thinks that people outside this charmed world will swallow the difference. I
don't know of mulitlateral agencies interested in land struggles but they
are certainly interested in intervening in governance -- which the CPM and
the IAS officers in this state are interested. The CPM-led State thinks that
it can use WB money without compromising the interests of the people.

People inChengara, please take note: if you receive any multilateral
funding, you are to use it strictly like our government; in the interest of
the 'people', that is. We must follow our enlightened state in all respects.

(3) Some groups, according to our professor, wish to spread canards about
the LDF throughout the world. His intentions are of course beyond doubt: he
is only speaking the truth. And what is truth? He hints at the end --
'nandigram' was a lie; therefore we may infer what that truth is - the
denial of nandigram. I am part of a generation of SFI students in Delhi who
were told by our respected leaders that Tienanmen was a lie spread by the
bourgeois media. Thank you very much, professor, but we don't need your
asertions of truth!
