Last Updated: Thu, 18.08.11 8:41 Deuba, Bhattarai agree on turn-wise leadership, disagree on first leadership Two leaders forwarded as candidates for the post of Prime Minister in the national unity government – Sher Bahadur Deuba from Nepali Congress and Baburam Bhattarai from UCPN (Maoist) – have agreed to form a national unity government taking the leadership in turn. Deuba and Bhattarai held talks on forming the national consensus government in presence of Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Lalitpur Wednesday evening. The talks did not reach any conclusion as both leaders claimed the first leadership in the national unity government. At the meeting, Deuba asked Bhattarai and Dahal to support him as the PM in the national unity government as other political parties were not in a position to accept Maoist leadership until the peace process progressed to a certain level. In response, Dahal asked Deuba to support Bhattarai’s leadership first assuring him to come up with clear time bound plan for the peace process. President Ram Baran Yadav has asked the political parties to come up with a plan for the national unity government by August 21.
