Won’t participate in Nov 19 polls if current govt not dissolved, Baidya says

Chairperson of poll-opposing CPN-M party Mohan Baidya has made it
clear that he will only participate in the Constituent Assembly (CA)
election scheduled for November 19 if the current Chief Justice-led
government is dissolved, adding that the nation cannot go into
election in the present circumstances.

Accepting a memorandum submitted by a delegation of Reporters Club
Nepal requesting his party to take part in the election on the basis
of consensus and understanding, the hardcore communist leader said
that the alliance of 33-parties CPN-M leads is currently engaged in
serious discussion and exercise to make the upcoming round-table
conference a success.

Stating that no one can turn their backs to talks and negotiations
meant to forge consensus, Baidya expressed confidence that all
problems facing the country will be resolved through the round-table
conference.

The high-level political committee (HLPC) and the 33-party alliance
led by Mohan Baidya's CPN-M on Thursday agreed, in principle, to hold
a "roundtable conference" to reach a political agreement.

A meeting held at the HLPC office, Naya Baneshwor, on Thursday arrived
at the understanding. However, the procedures, nature and the agendas
of the meet are yet to be finalised.
