In my opinion it's more linked to your general TeX system than on
Gregorio (these things haven't changed for about a year I believe).

Hmm... Well, as I was preparing the requested log file, I decided to trace down the gregoriotex.sty file that was throwing the error (I was procrastinating on the work I should have been doing) and discovered that it's an old version (2010/09/27 v2.0), not the one in the svn (2010/09/27 v2.1). Which I found odd because, as I said, I rebuilt and installed gregorio from the latest svn earlier today. Further investigation revealed that the more recent copy was in a different spot in the same tree. This second copy was more logically located (but apparently of a lower priority) and didn't separate the sty files from the rest. I cleaned out the oddly located (old) stuff and now things work perfectly.

So, put simply, I think my problem was that I still had detritus in my system from another install. Probably from when I first found gregorio and tried to use the Mac installer a couple of years ago. That never did work (as I recall) and I eventually had to resort to building from source. I guess I missed some of the remnants the installer had placed on my system.

Now to get back to what I'm supposed to be doing.:(
