Indeed, but the current workflow would still be needed: compilation of
big documents is already slow, if we recompute gabc each time, I'm
affraid it would slow down compilation too much...

I admit I would not feel at ease with C# (for philosophical reasons),
and D seems not active enough to me... So, for now, my preference would
be C++ or Ruby (though I agree that portability would be quite a
problem)... But of course that's just my feeling now, I don't mean to
close the discussion!
