Okay, after dealing with two installation issues on Windows, I'm working on setting up a Windows 7 and Windows 8 test environment on my computer where I can test the installer. That's going to take at least a few days, as I can't spend much time on it each day.

The question, in my mind, is do we wait for me to get these test environments setup and check the installer against them, or do we go with the fact that the installer is known to work against XP for release, and if it turns out that there is a bug when it comes to using it under Windows 7 and/or 8, then we release a hotfix to solve that.

I think that the latter (hotfix) route is sufficient, but does any one else have any opinions?

Oh, and it's now May 1st and we forgot to send an announcement to the list setting that as the release day for 3.0.0. If we're planning to release right away, do we still need to announce a release date and then release (to give more time for last minute testing), or can we just skip straight to the release? Again, I think the latter is sufficient.
