If you can test Windows 8 I’d appreciate it (especially as I just
discovered that the Windows 8 CD I got doesn’t have a product key with
it, so it’ll be Monday at the earliest before I can solve this).
For the test, I need you to first uninstall Gregorio (or find a Windows
8 system that’s never had it installed) and then go through the
installation process using the installer (available for download on the
GitHub releases page). Obviously TeXLive should be installed first.
Follow the prompts, using all the default options, and take note of the
following:
1. Where does the installer want to put the files by default?
2. Are the two options in the final pane checked by default?
3. What’s the output of the post-install script look like before you
close the window?
4. Does the example (PopulusSion) compile once the installation process
is complete? If not, what’s the error that comes up?
Actually, now that I think about it, I need this test run twice. Once
with TeXLive installed and once with MiKTeX installed (the other
distribution should not be installed during the test). One of the
hiccups is that MiKTeX is different from TeXLive. Having just tested
against MiKTeX on Windows 7 I’m seeing some problems. I’d be interested
to know if the same problems occur on Windows 8.
Regarding the problems with MiKTeX: I won’t have time to figure out if I
can fix them until Wednesday at the earliest. Any annoucements in the
mean time should indicate that this is a known problem.
