Dear Tracy, I am doing more experiments to refine my suggestions -- they have to take into account a wide range of different possibilities, of course. The values that I sent earlier work well for syllabic hymns, but there are certain problems with the more melismatic chants like the graduals and offertories. I have (thanks to Andrew Hinkley) a wide range of chant scores to experiment on, that range from melismatic chants to syllabic ones, and these types seem to have slightly different requirements for spacing values. I will hopefully be able to propose better settings soon.
