How much memory is on the machine? 12 mb doesn't seem like a lot. How much time until it climbs to 200 mb? Is this real or virtual memory?
You could sample the process to start with. There are other threads on this mailing list that include how to look at how much memory is taken up. Which display style are you using? If it's webkit based I'm going to recommend trying a non-webkit one for a bit to see if that's a culprit (it's an easy test which is why I recommend it).
