Mine is using 29 MiB (which is *not* “unacceptably high”—it's normal  
for a moderately-sized Cocoa app) after nearly 11 hours of use. That's  
why you haven't seen a fix: We're not seeing the problem.

To that end, please run these four commands:

grep -F ShortVersion /L*/P*P*/Growl.prefPane/C*/R*/GrowlH*/C*/Info.plist

grep -F ShortVersion ~/L*/P*P*/Growl.prefPane/C*/R*/GrowlH*/C*/ 
Info.plist

leaks GrowlHelperApp

heap GrowlHelperApp

and send us the output of each.
